Rosie's Story

Rosie was taken from a puppy farm by the Pug Dog Welfare Association earlier this year, along with her mother and sister. She had spent her entire life, (approximately five years), caged and unable to move freely.

She was undernourished, which combined with her confinement contributed to a lack of normal physical development, consequently, when first rescued she was unable to stand and will permanently have horrendous conformation and guaranteed arthritis.

She was filthy and infested with parasites. Her eyesight is poor.

She was used continually for breeding, even though she had a huge umbilical hernia into which her internal organs had grown. She has since had major surgery, successfully removing the hernia, she has also been spayed.  Rosie is now sharing our home with us and has become best of friends with our other Pug bitch, Wilma.

She is the sweetest, friendliest, dearest little creature. Her tail never stops wagging and now only her constant curiosity and joy of new discoveries, (flowers, grass, the linen basket), reminds us of her dreadful past.

Rosie came to live with us only four weeks ago and in that time has made a huge impact on all three of us (my husband, my teenage daughter and me), we have each shed tears for her, encouraged her, laughed with her and marvelled at her tenacity and strength of character.

Many, many thanks to Pug Welfare from all of us, but especially from Rosie. Carol Henderson-Smith

And many thanks to Carol and family for providing Rosie a happy home.
