You greeted me with open arms, the warmth of friendly
faces.
You made me feel that I belonged and took away all traces
of bleak past, now fading grey dull memories now replaced
with joy.
For on this day I came, I saw, (ate conkers) beneath
the big old tree.
Played amongst the Autumn leaves, had chocolate cake for tea.
Then on your marks, get set and go, lined up with
pride in place
with wagging tails and cheerful grins took part in games and
race

At last when all the fun was done,
with fond farewell and fading sun.
A final check of dog eared map
then lifted gently onto lap.
So, homeward bound to bed...
drifting gently.....sleepy head...
To dream that all who suffer pain
will never have to do again.
That they too may lay neath dappled sun
To stretch and sigh content, and run
with laughter in their souls. Free.
To only feel the kindest touch,
is mans best friend ..... do we ask too much?
